Atlas robot debuts at CES amid growing AI workforce debate

Hyundai-owned Boston Dynamics has unveiled its next-generation Atlas humanoid robot at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

According to Hyundai, the updated Atlas is equipped with human-scale hands featuring tactile sensing and can lift loads of up to 50kg.

The robot is designed to operate autonomously in a range of industrial environments, withstanding temperatures from minus 20C to 40C.

Hyundai Motor Group said it plans to deploy humanoid robots at its US manufacturing plant in Georgia from 2028, as part of efforts to automate higher-risk and repetitive tasks.
