They offer a rare window to the fiery hell beneath our earth’s surface. They’re called lava lakes and around world there are fewer than 10 volcanos that have persistent lakes inside.
The most recently discovered is Tofua, a volcanic island in Tonga and an Aussie adventurer has just returned from an incredible journey to the edge of the crater to document it.
