An Australian woman who’s lived in Bali for 15 years says she has never experienced a flood like the one that’s devastated the holiday island. Shelly Anissa Sulatumena told The World’s Girish Sawlani she was woken up by her dogs barking before she saw floodwaters inundate her entire home.
“Came out of nowhere,” she said.
“This time of year, we normally don’t get rain. It’s dry season. It came out of nowhere.”
At least 14 people have died in Bali after heavy rains across two days caused significant flooding.
