A bar owner in Richmond, New Zealand was stunned to discover that an unexpected guest – a baby fur seal – had wandered into her establishment.

While initial attempts to usher the seal out were unsuccessful, customers and bar staff managed to coax the seal out of its hiding spot under a dishwasher – with some salmon the pub was using as a special pizza topping that day. The adventurous animal was later safely returned to the wild. According to a NZ Department of Conversation spokesperson, it’s not unusual for curious young seals to show up in unexpected places at this time of year, as they follow rivers and streams up to 15km inland.
