If you want to keep costs low, but also keep your house warm this winter, one expert said you want to set the temperature between 18 and 20 degrees.
Utilities expert Mariam Gabaji told Yahoo Lifestyle, “Each extra degree can add about 5 to 10% to your running costs. So you won’t want it to be too high.”
While 18-20 degrees may seem low, if the temperature outside your home is 5 degrees, then 20 degrees would be a welcome reprieve.
The ‘Goldilocks zone’ for many heaters will be in that two-degree margin, as it’s the most efficient setting, especially for a single reverse split-cycle air conditioner.
