Charlie Kirk Shooting: 22-Year-Old Tyler Robinson Arrested In Utah Assassination Case | 10 News

US authorities have arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson over the fatal shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson was taken into custody after confessing or “implying” the killing to a family friend.

Robinson’s father recognised him in FBI footage, encouraged him to surrender, and contacted a youth pastor to help, a law enforcement source told the Associated Press.

Authorities later said anti-fascist messages were inscribed in bullet casings that were found with the rifle believed to be the murder weapon.

Robinson faces preliminary charges including aggravated murder, with formal charges expected next week.

Kirk’s shooting is the latest in a string of politically motivated US attacks, including attempts on Donald Trump, shootings of Minnesota Democrats, an arson at Governor Josh Shapiro’s home, and the 2022 hammer assault on Nancy Pelosi’s husband.
