Chicago Residents Confront US Troops During Immigration Raid | 10 News

A normally quiet Chicago neighbourhood was thrown into chaos on Friday after heavily armed US immigration agents conducted a raid, sparking a tense standoff with residents.

Video footage shows dozens of protesters and residents confronting authorities after they tried to stop federal agents from arresting a construction worker. Tear gas was then deployed into the crowd as the agents withdrew.

This came despite a recent court order limiting the use of tear gas during demonstrations against the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in Chicago.

President Donald Trump’s ongoing “Operation Midway Blitz,” a citywide deportation campaign, has led to more than a thousand arrests since the start of last month and has fueled widespread protests across the city.
