US President Donald Trump has reiterated his call for America to take over Greenland, saying “one way or the other we are going to have” the Arctic territory.
Asked whether he would take military action within the Danish territory, President Trump declared he is willing to make a deal with the nation to prevent Russia or China stepping in.
“We need Greenland from a national security situation. It’s so strategic. Right now, Greenland is covered with Russian and Chinese ships all over the place,” he said.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has responded to his claims, saying her country faces a “decisive moment” in its diplomatic battle against the United States.
The leader confirmed there is conflict over Greenland and will defend their values “wherever is necessary”.
