A dangerous vape containing the powerful anaesthetic etomidate has been discovered in Melbourne, prompting a state government drug alert. The life-threatening substance can cause rapid deep sedation, unconsciousness and ineffective breathing, with one person already hospitalised after inhaling the contaminated product. Health authorities warn the tainted vapes may be circulating on the black market under names like K-Pods, Space Vapes, or Space Oil, falsely marketed as high-nicotine, liquid ketamine or cannabis products.
