Over 1,500 people have been injured in e-bike and e-scooter incidents across Queensland since 2023, with more than 200 illegal e-bikes seized by police in the past year alone. Hundreds of thousands of these devices are being abandoned and dumped across Queensland cities, generating over 1,500 council complaints about blocked footpaths and improper disposal. A parliamentary inquiry is currently underway to address safety monitoring of these devices, with findings expected in the coming months.
