Elon Musk calls for ‘abolishment’ of the EU after X slapped with enormous fine

Tech Billionaire Elon Musk has torn into the European Union after the European Commission decided to slap his social media platform X with a €120 million fine.

The fine was over the feature that allows users on the platform to buy a blue verification checkmark.

After a two-year investigation, the EU found that X enabled users to purchase the checkmark without any “meaningful” verification of the account.

The X owner flamed the EU’s decision to fine the social media platform, calling for the organisation to be abolished.

“The EU should be abolished, and sovereignty returned to individual countries, so that governments can better represent their people,” Musk wrote on X.
