‘Enough is Enough’: Taxpayers face $32,000 coffee bill as COP31 spending hits millions

News24 host Jaimee Rogers criticises the Albanese government over millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded COP31 expenses, including coffee, accommodation, event management and travel for community groups and consultants.

“At a time when many Australians can’t afford to buy themselves a cup of coffee, taxpayers will foot a $32,000 bill for coffee at the upcoming COP 31 conference in Turkey,” Ms Rogers said.

“Taxpayers are facing an estimated $2.2 million in hospitality, accommodation and event-management contracts associated with Australia’s participation at COP31. Almost $1.3 million for event management.

“Another $872,000 for accommodation and meeting facilities and $700,000 being spent to send community groups and consultants to the conference.

“This is our money. Money earned by hardworking Australians who are being forced to make sacrifices while their government seemingly refuses to do the same, and at some point, someone must be held accountable.”
