Germany’s AfD has claimed victory in a regional election, marking the first win by a far-right party in the country since World War Two.
The Alternative for Germany party secured about 44 percent of the vote in the east German state of Saxony-Anhalt.
The result falls short of an outright majority, but the party believes it has won a mandate to govern.
