Meanwhile, South Africa has strongly rejected a US State Department report that criticises its human rights record. The report, released Tuesday, accused the country of moving toward land expropriation of Afrikaners and mistreating racial minorities. Pretoria called the assessment inaccurate and unrepresentative of its constitutional democracy. The dispute follows Washington’s recent imposition of a 30% tariff on many South African goods.
