The first of five local villagers trapped inside a flooded cave in Laos has been rescued after spending more than a week underground.
The group became stranded when flash flooding cut off their escape route while searching for gold in a remote cave system.
An international rescue team, including Australian diver Josh Richards, is working through narrow, flooded passages to reach the remaining survivors.
Four people are still awaiting rescue, while two others remain missing.
