The conflict between the United States and Iran has entered a dangerous new phase. Hours after President Donald Trump confirmed that an American Apache helicopter had been brought down near the Strait of Hormuz, US forces launched strikes on targets inside southern Iran. Washington says air defence systems, surveillance radars and ground control stations were hit in a proportional response to recent attacks on US personnel and commercial shipping. Iran has vowed retaliation, with reports emerging of missile attacks targeting US military facilities in Jordan and Bahrain. Kuwait has also activated its air defence systems against hostile aerial threats.
