The Australian’s Environment Editor Graham Lloyd says “doom merchants” have a lot to answer for as Gen Z are turning away from parenthood because of apparent climate change anxiety and a deep uncertainty about the future.
“The latest research is that an increasing number of Gen Zs … have proclaimed they are not interested in having children,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.
“This is because either they don’t want to inflict upon their offspring an uncomfortable existence on an uninhabitable planet,” he said.
“This is a global issue, but it is very much a first-world concern.”
