“The president getting this across the finish line tonight was very significant because, remember, Israel was bracing for the possibility of incoming Iranian ballistic missiles just hours ago,” Mr Yingst said.
“The president clearly got on the phone and told them, ‘Hold your fire, sign the deal’.
“The fact that there was an immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz is significant because this is 50 per cent of what the president was trying to get.
“The other 50 per cent has to do with Iran’s nuclear program, and these detailed discussions will take place in the days and weeks ahead.”
