Saudi Arabia says Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis fired a ballistic missile toward Riyadh at dawn, but the projectile was intercepted and destroyed by the kingdom’s air defences. Coalition spokesperson Major-General Turki al-Maliki also said Houthi forces attempted to target civilians and civilian infrastructure in Bisha, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu, with the attacks thwarted.
Saudi authorities issued emergency alerts warning of a “hostile aerial threat” across the kingdom overnight. At least one explosion was heard in Riyadh on Saturday, while residents near the airport reported seeing a plume of black smoke. Saudi authorities reported no casualties or damage.
