Saudi Arabia’s air defences have intercepted and destroyed Houthi drones and missiles targeting different parts of the kingdom, including the Mecca region. The Saudi-led coalition said a drone was brought down on Friday morning, while a cruise missile aimed at western Saudi Arabia was also intercepted. Earlier, ballistic missiles targeting the eastern region and Riyadh were destroyed. The Houthis denied targeting Mecca, saying their cross-border operations focus on Saudi oil facilities and military bases. As hostilities between the Riyadh-backed Yemen government and Iran-backed Houthis continue, humanitarian agencies are warning of worsening conditions for civilians.
