UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is promising to give leadership hopeful Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham a big role in Government if he wins a by-election this week.
“I’ve spoken to him many times in recent weeks, he’s a huge asset, he’s been a fantastic mayor in Manchester,” Mr Starmer said.
“ I don’t think there should be a leadership election. I think that the last government proved that parties that spend their whole time in leadership elections don’t go on to win the next general election.
“I’m not going to walk away, I’m going to fight.”
