Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have claimed a major advance on the western Red Sea coast, consolidating their grip on the key international shipping route.
The Houthis earlier said they posed no threat to international shipping but reiterated their threat to target vessels from Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, leaders from 11 Brics nations – including host India, China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, the UAE and Iran, with Saudi Arabia attending as an invited member – will hold talks this weekend in Delhi on a wide range of issues.
