Iranian visa holders temporarily barred from entering Australia | 7NEWS

More than 7000 Iranian temporary visa holders will be blocked from entering Australia over concerns they might be unable or unwilling to return home amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke announced the change, affecting subclass 600 visa holders, on Wednesday stating the measure gives the government time to assess the situation properly while still allowing flexibility in limited cases.

“There are many visitor visas which were issued before the conflict in Iran which may not have been issued if they were applied for now,” Mr Burke said. #iran #visa #travel #australia #border
