Victorian Farmers Federation President Brett Hosking discusses the flow-on effect of increasing fuel prices.
“It will have an impact on food prices,” Mr Hosking told Sky News Australia.
“The best we can do to minimise the pain for everyday shoppers is to make sure we have fuel for our rural and regional communities.
“Our nitrogen [fertiliser] requirement, which is what actually gives us our better yield and improves the quality of our food, that actually comes from the Middle East, and so that’s under a real grey area at the moment.”
