The succession battle at Rupert Murdoch’s media empire has ended. Eldest boy Lachlan Murdoch will secure control of the Murdochs’ sprawling media empire that includes Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and the majority of Australia’s newspaper market. His siblings James, Elisabeth and Prudence will each receive an estimated $1.1bn each for their shares in the business in exchange for the voting rights they were bequeathed in a (previously) irrevocable trust.
