Europe recorded the sharpest regional growth as countries increased defence budgets following the Ukraine war and wider security concerns. Asia and Oceania also posted their fastest increase since 2009, led by China, Japan and Taiwan. The figures reflect rising geopolitical tensions, military modernisation and strategic competition across multiple regions.
