Today’s hearing, “The Continuing Tragedy of Sanctuary Laws,” features testimony from Elizabeth Carter, whose son William Micah Carter was killed in California in 2025, and Anatoly Varfolomeev, whose daughter Anya was killed in California in 2021. Broome County Sheriff Frederick Akshar is also testifying about New York’s sanctuary laws.
