Saudi Arabia has faced another major Houthi missile attack, with six ballistic missiles reportedly intercepted after being launched toward targets including Taif and Yanbu. The choice of Yanbu is particularly significant. The Red Sea port is a major centre for Saudi Arabia’s energy, refining and export infrastructure — making it an important node as pressure on Gulf and Red Sea shipping continues to grow. The latest escalation comes as the Houthis continue attacks against Saudi targets and warn of further retaliation. Saudi-backed Yemeni forces are also reporting fighting across multiple fronts inside Yemen, while displacement and casualties continue to rise. But Saudi Arabia is increasingly looking beyond its own air defences. France says it will deploy military personnel, radars and defensive systems to help protect Yanbu. Saudi Arabia is also engaging Turkey and Pakistan under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement. At the same time, the United States has so far stopped short of launching direct strikes against the Houthis, despite reported Saudi requests for greater military involvement.
