Taiwan’s Army staged a major live-fire exercise on the Taichung coastline on Tuesday, rehearsing a response to a simulated Chinese amphibious assault. Led by the Army’s 10th Corps, the drill featured a range of weapons systems, including Taiwan’s Thunder 2000 multiple-rocket launcher, US-made self-propelled howitzers, mortars, and anti-tank missiles. The exercise replicated an attempted landing by Chinese forces on Taiwan’s central coast, highlighting the island’s efforts to enhance combat readiness and coastal defence capabilities amid increasing military pressure and activity from China around the Taiwan Strait.
