Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado says President Nicolás Maduro will leave power “with or without negotiations” as the US military continues to amass forces in the Caribbean.
US President Donald Trump has discussed potential military intervention in Venezuela, based on accusations that the country ships narcotics to the United States. The Venezuelan government has denied the allegations.
“The Venezuelan conflict is absolutely a priority in matters of national security of the United States,” Machado said while speaking to reporters in Oslo.
Machado’s getaway from Venezuela involved a long, “scary” and very wet sea crossing in the dead of night with no lights, according to the man who says he led the operation.
