Major delays are crippling Sydney and Melbourne airports this morning after staffing shortages in air traffic control sparked widespread disruption.
Air Services Australia issued the alert overnight, with ground delay programs now in place at both major airports.
Passengers travelling through Melbourne are being warned to expect delays of up to an hour, with the disruption expected to continue throughout the day.
