A 25-year-old man accused of killing one and wounding two others in a stabbing rampage in Merrylands had escaped during a transfer between mental health institutions 10 days earlier.
The murder suspect fronted the Parramatta Local Court and did not apply for bail.
The court also heard he had been charged with domestic violence-related assault before the escape.
