Meta and Youtube found liable for millions of damages in social media addiction trial

In a landmark case, a Los Angeles jury has handed down an unprecedented win for a young woman who sued Meta and YouTube over her childhood addiction to social media. The jury awarded 6 million US dollars in damages to the lead plaintiff in the case – a California woman named Kaley. Jurors found that the companies intentionally built addictive social media platforms that harmed her mental health.
