Meta to pay $A24 billion to settle landmark child safety lawsuit

Facebook and Instagram’s parent company Meta has settled a landmark US lawsuit over teen social media addiction by agreeing to pay $A24 billion and implement major child safety measures.

The new measures include a two-hour daily time limit, mandatory overnight shutdown, blackout of notifications during school hours, ban on visible “like” and reaction counts, and an optional feed without personalised algorithms. #meta #facebook #instagram #lawsuit #socialmediaaddiction
