The United States has confirmed it will send a unit of ICE agents to the Winter Olympic Games starting in Milan from February 6, sparking outrage from local politicians and residents.
“This is a militia that kills… of course they’re not welcome in Milan,” Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala told Italian radio on Tuesday.
The US immigration agency says federal agents from its Homeland Security Investigations Division would support diplomatic security operations, by helping to vet and mitigate risks from transnational criminal organisations.
