The Lunar New Year has begun, ushering in the Year of the Horse.

In mainland China, a week-long public holiday sees millions of people on the move to celebrate with their families. Hong Kong is famed for its massive fireworks display over Victoria Harbour.

Across Asia, Lunar New Year is also celebrated in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. South Korea upholds its own unique rituals honouring ancestors and tradition. While in Vietnam, spring flowers symbolise rebirth, wealth and luck.

Australia has celebrations too as around the globe ethnic Chinese communities salute their history.
