Aged care consultant Paul Sadler says more than 3,600 people are “stuck” in hospitals awaiting discharge home or to an aged care facility.
“It is a risk whenever you reduce the private hospital benefits,” Mr Sadler told News24.
“New South Wales government also released data yesterday showing that 3,600 people are now stuck in hospitals at a national level, ready for discharge home or to a residential aged care service.
“These are people who no longer need to be in hospital, but our aged care system doesn’t have the places available for them.”
