Three people have been found alive from different flooded tunnels in Nepal over the weekend following extensive search and rescue operations, 10 days after devastating floods swept through the country.
At least 1,344 people have been killed in Nepal in the floods that swept away houses, streets and schools in towns and villages near the border with China’s Tibet, the disaster management authority said on Saturday.
An Australian team has arrived in Nepal to help search for those still missing — with 36 Australians among the more than 5,000 people unaccounted for as search crews continue to work through flood-hit communities.
As of Saturday, China said the death toll in Tibet was 31, with 531 others listed as missing, according to state media Xinhua.
