A police officer who died after a marked vehicle crashed into a tree in inner-Sydney has been identified as Mia Lay.
The 20-year-old constable was travelling in the passenger seat when the car collided with a tree in Redfern.
A 24-year-old male constable, who police said was driving at the time, has been taken to hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon, deputy commissioner Dave Hudson and Police Minister Yasmin Catley paid tribute to Mia Lay during a press conference.
