After seven months of searching, police have shot dead fugitive Dezi Freeman at a property in Victoria’s north-east.
The self-proclaimed “sovereign citizen” had been missing since August of 2025 when he escaped into bushland after killing two police officers.
Mike Bush, Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police, said Freeman had an opportunity to “surrender peacefully” before he was fatally shot in the stand-off.
