United States health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr has put forth a bizarre and unfounded link between children who are circumcised and increased instances of autism, in the latest in an increasingly long and bizarre line of communications from the US’s top health official.
Speaking at a US Cabinet meeting press appearance, RFK claimed that “children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism,” which he ascribes to them “being given Tylenol.” US President Donald Trump supported the claim, stating that “as a non-doctor, I’ve studied this a long time.”
This claim follows previous communications from the White House that drew a direct link between paracetamol – specifically the name-brand Tylenol – and autism in children. No link between the two has even been definitively proven, and medical experts have stridently pushed back on the claims.
