SA election: Cory Bernardi rejects ‘anti-immigration’ label, says One Nation ‘viable alternative’

The first litmus test of One Nation’s surge in the opinion polls is set to play out this weekend as South Australians head to the polls.

One Nation leader Cory Bernardi insists his party is the “only viable alternative” at the ballot, even with SA Premier Peter Malinauskas in a strong position to retain Labor’s majority.

Asked about his party’s stance on immigration, Bernardi said: “To characterise us as an anti-migration platform is just wrong.”

He told SBS News that cost-of-living pressures, housing, and fuel prices are key issues for voters, many of whom worry their “lives are going backwards.”
