A massive sinkhole has opened in a canal in England’s Shropshire county, trapping two boats in deep mud and damaging a third.
Emergency services declared a major incident after a significant breach of the Shropshire Union Canal in Whitchurch.
More than 10 people were rescued as crews worked through unstable ground and rapidly moving water, with no injuries reported.
The affected section of the canal has been dammed off while investigators work to determine the cause of the collapse.
