Socceroos midfielder Jackson Irvine has said football’s credibility as a ‘force for good’ has been undermined by the game’s global governing body, accusing FIFA of making a ‘mockery’ of its human rights policy.
In an interview with SBS, Irvine was speaking in relation to the awarding of the FIFA Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump last year.
Norway’s football federation is now calling for FIFA to abolish the award. Human rights groups and activists have also widely condemned the move.
