Spain has installed a 500-metre floating sea barrier between its North African territory Ceuta and Morocco to prevent migrants from crossing the border. The move follows a crisis that saw 60,000 migrants attempt to cross, resulting in at least 77 deaths. The European Union is now holding emergency talks after Spain criticised Italy for suspending visa-free travel and called for a united European response to illegal migration.
