Cyclone Ditwah has swept across Sri Lanka, killing 46 people and leaving 23 missing as floods and landslides hit eastern and central regions after more than 300 millimetres of rain.
Around 44,000 people have been affected, with thousands sheltering in schools and public centres, according to the Disaster Management Centre.
Rescue teams airlifted families from rooftops, including 13 people trapped on a bridge in Polonnaruwa and a man stranded atop a coconut tree.
Officials warn flooding is expected to worsen over the next 12 hours, including in parts of Colombo.
