Former acting US ambassador to Australia James Carouso highlights the strength of Australia-US relations and emphasises the importance of ongoing military cooperation.
“I think for all allies it’s a difficult period because of what the President expects or at least says what he expects from allies,” Mr Carouso told Sky News Australia.
“It’s not just … allies overseas, in the United States, if anyone crosses him, he’s very direct and demanding in what he wants.
“That said, Australia has huge support in Congress… President Trump said he’s full steam ahead on AUKUS, which is a big commitment.
“The US military highly values the relationship with the Australian military.”
