Steve Bannon suggests Trump could seek a third term despite constitutional limits

Former White House strategist Steve Bannon has claimed Donald Trump could pursue a third term in 2028, despite the US constitution’s 22nd amendment explicitly prohibiting presidents from being elected more than twice.

Speaking to The Economist, Bannon a key figure in the “Make America Great Again” movement, described Trump as an “instrument of divine will” and hinted at “many different alternatives” to extend his influence beyond two terms — a notion legal experts say would require an extraordinary constitutional amendment.
