Sussan Ley asks ‘how do we maintain the rage?’ over the 74 Australian women killed in 2024

The opposition leader, Sussan Ley, has urged Australians to ‘maintain the rage’ over the high number of women killed at the hands of their partners. Ahead of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Ley spoke after Labor MP Sharon Claydon introduced a motion to end family and domestic violence. Claydon read the list of the women who have lost their lives in the last year. ‘Every year I read this list in the hope it will be the last, heartbreakingly that day has not yet come’. Liberal MP Aaron Violi also spoke, urging his male colleagues to be part of the solution to ending the violence against women
