AT&S CEO Michael Mertin says advanced semiconductor substrates are becoming a hidden bottleneck in the race to power AI.
As chips process data faster, Mertin says the ability to connect their components and move energy efficiently is becoming increasingly important to performance.
He calls substrates the “new gold” of the semiconductor industry, arguing customers are willing to pay a premium for the technology as they co-develop the next generation of AI chips.
